Our Animals
Smáratún is a working farm that has been in the same family for generations. The animals we have are:
- Horses
- Cows
- Sheep
- Chickens
- Ducks
- Goats
- Geese
- Dog
We offer horseback riding during the summer as well as horse-whispering, where you can feed and pet the horses. Some of our animals are always around the hotel property for you to visit.
The History of Smáratún
The family business started with a small guesthouse inside the previous owners home. With time the business has expanded with summerhouses, chalets and a hotel. Our hotel was once a cow house and a barn. In 2006 the current owners transformed the cow house into the hotel we know today. They are the 3rd generation of the family to be a part of the farm.
